Twenty years ago, Velocity pioneered a new approach to tackling potholes and road defects using spray-injection patching. By working in partnership with customers and collaborating with suppliers, Velocity Patching has become an established technique used by local authorities and maintenance contractors throughout the country.
Velocity are committed to helping clients to deliver on the challenge of maintaining our vital road network, helping to get more value from allocated budgets and deliver an effective service for road users.
An active contributor to industry standards, Velocity participated in the development of the sector scheme for surface treatments, NHSS 13. All operators are permanent employees of the company, keeping experience and expertise within the company for the benefit of customers. Dedicated to quality and safety, all of Velocity’s operators follow an intensive training programme leading to an NVQ in Velocity Patching.
Velocity design and build the most advanced spray-injection patching machine at their manufacturing facility in Sunderland, operating a fleet in the UK and exporting equipment and know-how throughout the Middle East, Africa, North and South America.
Over the past 20 years Velocity have repaired millions of highway defects, delivering safer and smoother journeys for road users, saving tens of millions for tax-payers and protecting the environment with a 90% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to traditional techniques.
As well as maintaining roads for residents, we support local communities by generating employment, supporting the economy and providing our services voluntarily to support initiatives.
Most recently, we supported a multi-agency initiative to build cohesion in a neighbourhood in Wolverhampton. Working with social services, the community policing team and others, Velocity helped to improve a neighbourhood by repairing their road free of charge. With the road in poor condition, the speed of Velocity’s process made it possible for the council to make a significant improvement to the street with minimal disruption, making life better for residents until a full resurfacing can be programmed.
We are always happy to support communities in such a way on medium-longer contracts, helping out community groups and so on who may not have the resources to maintain their parking areas and roads.
Velocity generate local employment for drivers and labourers, often working with initiatives for giving opportunities to NEETs and long-term unemployed people. A significant amount of local spend is generated through employment and subsistence, which is recorded and reported.
We actively participate in initiatives to promote STEM activities to the next generation, and are happy to work with clients to include Velocity Patching as a module on their own apprenticeship schemes.
We are proud signatories of the Armed Forces Covenant. The Covenant formally recognises the value that serving regular and reservist personnel, veterans and military families contribute to business and to the United Kingdom.
One-in-six of our colleagues served in the Armed Forces, and are a great asset to our business. We actively promote employment opportunities to members of the Armed Forces community.
